Loch Garten is near Boat of Garten, and Aviemore, this small loch forms part of a nature reserve. The Abernethy Forest Reserve ot the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds on the shores of the loch is home to nesting ospreys, and was crucial in encouraging the re-establishment of these rare birds in Scotland.
